Cry for me: Devil May Cry 4 coming to PC with extra content

Sometime this summer, the PC is going to have a reason to cry. That is, Capcom has announced that Devil May Cry 4 is going to be released on PC with bonus content unavailable in the console versions. Is this good news? Sure, I suppose if you loved the previous Devil May Cry games but have yet to adopt one of the current gen consoles. But for those of us who have already picked up our copy, be it for 360 or PS3, this news doesn’t sound all that appealing.

While offering new content is pleasing, I highly doubt that any console gamer is willing to spend the cash to ramp up his computer’s specs so he can play a game he already owns, albeit a prettier version with some new content. Not to mention the notorious compatibility issues with console ports to PC (e.g. BioShock’s widescreen dilemma). In all honesty, this just seems like another scheme to milk cash out of the Devil May Cry fans who haven’t been sated. My personal advice, stick with the console versions. If we’re lucky they might just release this bonus content on the Xbox and PS3 online stores.

I cant imagine what the controls would be like on a keyboard.

We have these things called gamepads on the PC too you know? Had them for years. :)

Yes, but alas…the gamepad hasn’t brought much to the PC’s as the most popular style of game remains the FPS.

I play PC games alot and I’ve never bothered with a gamepad

I have to agree with Jason on this. You have the option of using a gamepad, so there’s no reason to moan about poor keyboard controls.

The fact that the game is coming out later on the PC totally justifies the extra content. It’s been this way for years. GoW on PC had a longer single player campaign, and many console ports include added features when ported over.

You got the game in it’s complete form when it came out on 360, just cause there’s a newer version doesn’t mean your missing out. It’s like people who moan about getting a rough deal having owned a 360 for 2 years only to be apparently “screwed over” when the Elite version was launched.

and Bioshock wasn’t a port, it was developed for both 360 and PC. Not for 360 then ported. A patch for the POV problem was released quite quickly anyway. That whole “problem” was blown way out of proportion, it hardly plighted the game, with most people never knowing the difference anyway.

Still, a game like Devil May Cry is something born from consoles. While this isn’t the first time it’s been on PC, it still seems out of place on the PC: Home of FPS and RTS.

I understand it’s not a terrible occurrence, especially for PC gamers, but for those of us who would really like to use these new features but cannot due to lacking computer specs, and/or budget to improve said specifications, it’s a bit disappointing that such a great game is just out of our reach.
