Dead Space: EA’s best looking new IP

Posted by AudioHawk

Fittingly set for release on Halloween of this year, Dead Space is looking very promising. Mixing the third-person survival horror of the Silent Hill series with the sci-fi aesthetic and action of Doom, as well as the promise of zero-gravity gameplay, things are shaping up nicely for this big budget title. Sure it’s not the most original of premises (space engineer struggling through a spaceship overrun with monsters all on his lonesome), but the graphical polish makes this worth a look, plus the developers passion for immersion and for their story, with a comic series and animated movie also in the works.

The most interesting aspect of this game for many is the fact that it is coming from the franchise king EA. Poor Burnout….how they killed you *tear. To be fair to the publishing giant, they do seem to be correcting their ways. With a recent boost in employee morale, admissions of past failings, positive developer feedback and a roster of recently published games including Battlefield 2, Rock Band and the Orange Box. Going by the already shown trailers, Dead Space will almost certainly be an M-rated game, another sign of change at EA in the past few years. They have been critical in the path of Take Two for relying too much on mature rated games such as GTA.

Here’s hoping Dead Space is a continuation of EA’s current spree of critically appreciated titles.

Haloween release date? Thats stupid. Kids and teens are gonna wanna stay home, not go out and get a new game.

lame marketing ideas aside, this game looks really good. But its gonna be hard to pull the controls off without making it so floaty that its not scary. This reminds me of RLH, was a pretty scary game but the twitchy controls made you not fear dying

Do you know america is the biggest market? Europe is pretty big but thats one continent of the 3, I highly doubt this will sell in Japan.
