Epic head likens Wii to a virus
I just don’t get it. What’s with all the Nintendo hate going on these days?
A couple of years ago, all of the status quo gamers, game developers and media were very dismissive about Nintendo and its latest consoles. The DS was just a gimmick, they said, and the Wii was an underpowered joke doomed to failure. Now that they’ve all been proven wrong, there seems to be some serious resentment going on.
In an interview with IGN, Mike Capps, the head of Epic Games has upped the rhetoric to a new level, describing the Wii as a virus with this laughable quote:
It’s a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they’re like, ‘Oh my God that’s so cool, I’m gonna go buy it.’ So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they’ve showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Obviously there’s a class of people who really love it and enjoy it and are getting into the games but I’m still waiting for that one game that makes me play it.”
So, Mr. Capps, the head of a company that does NOT develop for Wii has stopped playing his. Therefore, everyone who has bought a Wii has stopped playing it. Brilliant. So, the 4 million people who bought Super Smash Bros Brawl aren’t actually playing? The 2 million copies of Wii Fit already sold are not getting used? Preposterous. And what about all the people who bought Guitar Hero III for Wii, which is well on it’s way to outselling all the copies on PS3 and Xbox 360 combined.
To me, this kind of comment smacks of frustration on the part of Capps and most likely many other developers who feel that without HD graphics, the Wii is beneath them. That’s fine, of course, if they feel that way, but this kind of nonsensical quote just makes him look bitter and sad.

But he is right, i know so many people who bought a Wii, were raving on about how brilliant it was, and now either play on the 360 or the pc, only booting the Wii up when friends come over.
And Gears for Wii wouldnt be awsome, it would look like some child had got a brown crayon and drawn all over the screen.

Gears for wii would be awesome.
