Forecast: Lost Winds will blow you away
We here at Gaming Clarity don’t currently have the luxury of review copies, nor do we have the opportunity to play games before their respective release dates. Therefore, we have no more material to base our judgment on than the reader. We resort to various reviews and video of games scattered across the Internet. For example, the following opinion of the upcoming WiiWare title Lost Winds is based upon the gametrailers video seen above and information released to the general public.
As one of the first titles to be revealed for Wii Ware, Lost Winds is shaping up to be a hit. Its cel-shaded, tribal aesthetic is reminiscent of Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker while the gameplay can best be described as a combination of The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and Zack and Wiki. The gamer is placed in control of two characters, one being Taku, the boy with the odd hat, and the other being the very wind itself. Aside from moving left and right, the wind is the way to control Taku. The wind can also peform a variety of other actions, such as blowing enemies and projectiles across the map and creating streams of fire to burn down obstacles. It does not seem to have superfluous motion-based controls, only pointing cursor controls. It seems simple enough to have mass appeal, yet potentially difficult enough to appeal to more enthusiastic puzzle gamers.
From what I can see, Lost Winds is shaping up to be the centerpiece of the first line of WiiWare titles and hopefully will set a standard for Nintendo online content.
