Rocky and Bullwinkle pinball - the crowd goes ‘meh’
I knew a Rocky and Bullwinkle table for Pinball FX was coming out, and when I first heard about it, I was frankly kind of curious at their choice of licenses. I mean, you’ve got to assume that the majority of gamers downloading content on Xbox Live aren’t going to give a flying squirrel (natch) about Rocky and Bullwinkle. More than a few of them probably don’t even know who they are. Then I read the official press release over on XBL Arcade, and it all started to make sense:
“The release of the Rocky & Bullwinkle table for Pinball FX is in anticipation of the release of the full Rocky & Bullwinkle game for XBLA from Zen Studios in partnership with Bullwinkle Studios.”
Ok, fair enough, you created a simple little pinball table that you can sell for a couple of bucks to promote your upcoming game featuring… Rocky and Bullwinkle.

It’s like a never ending battle with you, isn’t it Zen Studios? Let’s go over this again…
Look, I bought your Pinball FX game in the hopes that you would take a cue from Crave Entertainment and their pinball titles like Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection. Just license the tables that players like myself grew up playing, and recreate them with your fancy pinball engine. Congrats, you just made a ton of money off people like me. And before anybody says “Oh Tim, just calm your old man nerves. Nobody but you cares about these dusty old pinball games“, well there’s an awful lot of fans of the VPinMAME project that would snap these tables up in a second.
Back to the press release, the Rocky and Bullwinkle table is available for immediate download for owners of Pinball FX, and will set you back 200 points. Or alternatively, you could take the points you’d spend on this table and put them towards the Battlestar Galactica game. Either way, you’re a total sucker.

I’m not interested in the table at all, and because of that, I couldn’t care less about how good it is. I enjoyed the tables that came with the game, and I liked the free Pirates one they made as well, but a Rocky and Bullwinkle table doesn’t do anything for me. And I’ve got to be honest, I’m surprised that you are a fan of Rocky and Bullwinkle… in the past I’ve gotten blank looks from teenagers when I reference it.
I would just like to see them make an attempt at creating a licensed table for fans like me. It’s great that you didn’t play actual pinball much, but for those of us that did, it would be nice to have the ability to relive some of the best ones. It’s not like there isn’t demand in the market for it, since there’s been two licensed pinball table games on three different platforms.
That’s all my request is; think about fans like myself that grew up playing the real thing.
I didn’t buy it, R&B strikes me as very American, I didn’t even know it what it was really, it’s a TV show right? I know the names and the characters, but not the actual content.
A Ren and Stimpy table, maybe Star Wars (played the real table a lot), would be cool.
I am hoping that new tables continue to come out, 200 points for a new one is well worth it in my opinion. Real pinball, is what, 50p a go? Unlimited goes for £2? Sure!

Have you downloaded the table Tim? I know its a original table but i found it to be one of the better tables for PinballFX, its certainly better then the Nightmare Mansion table. I think the fact that it does use a license makes it a lot more enjoyable, i used to watch rocky and bullwinkle as a kid and its cool to hear voice clips from the show. I never played pinball much in a arcade so i dont care about licensed ones but Zen needs to crank out some more tables, id be willing to pay for a bundle pack of 6 or so tables for $10
